The Things We Learned From Episode 9 & 10

You can learn a lot from these two episodes. I think some major foreshadowing occured. At least, we got to see the brothers working as a team again. Sam is definately taking a lead and Dean is letting him be more of a partner. In "summer" Sam rescues Dean from Alasair's brutal beating by stabbing him in the heart. Unfortunately, this is the moment when we learn that the demon killing knife doesn't work on White Eyed Demons.

So the boys jump throuogh a window and make a run for it.

The Winchesters work together to plot their course of action in saving Anna.

A little help from the psychic Pamela doesn't hurt, though discovering Anna is an angel wasn't the best thing after Castiel burnt out her eyes.


So here are the things we learned from episodes 9 & 10:

! Dean did demonic things for 10 years.....

! Sam just did a demon...

! Angels can be killed, but with some sort of unknown, unavailable weapon, however, if angels

can be killed, then so can Lucifer.

! Sam’s hand of ipecac doesn’t work on white eye level demons, nor does Ruby’s knife





! Sam needs to learn a new trick or two in order to best Lillith

and Ruby is a willing teacher



! Whatever Sam has to do to tone up is something he’s not comfortable with

! Angels also have their own version of the hand of ipecac, begging those age old questions:

Was Azazel a fallen angel? Are Sam’s powers angelic?

! Anna can hear “angel radio”; does that mean Ruby can hear “demon radio”? Cause you know

she’s not on any demon’s friends list.

! If Ruby can hear demons, then why can’t Sam?

! Angels have Grace, and they loose it when they fall

! Grace can be worn in a vial around the neck, it can also be in a tree

! Lucifer’s Grace is presumable out there somewhere
! Both angels and demons can make choices, they have more free will than they think

! Dean is depressed, he’s willing to confess and cry in front of Sam

! Sam doesn’t know what to do next, but he’d kill an angel if he had to if that meant he’d protect Dean from Hell

! The Demons want Dean in Hell

On a completely superficial note:

! Sam has a perky little ass (according to Pam) He has massive back and shoulder muscles
(according to everyone whose watched his shirtless scene no less than 20 times)

! Dean hears Paul Rodgers voice singing in his head every time he has sex

! Sam and Ruby have had sex more than once. “That abomination you’ve been screwing.”
“What you and that demon bitch do in the dark.”

! Both “women” had pity for their Winchester brother which led to comfort and sex

! Anna fell from Grace for the cake and the sex (hope it was worth it)

Stupid speculation: Again!

In a show that gives us the “boy with the demon blood” and his brother who spent 10 years as a demon, where exactly might they go next?

I’ve seen this theory bantered about, and so I’m going to take off with it:

Sam’s gonna be Lucifer’s vessel and have to fight him from within. Sam has been groomed since age 6 months to be the best. Forced into hunting as a child and later as an adult, Sam has always been better trained than the other psychic kids. He is best suited to be able to handle the power of being possessed by Lucifer.

But let’s not stop there! Let’s throw a wrench into the plan, one that Lucifer himself might like. What if:

Dean and Sam are apostolic protectors of Lucifer’s grace?



We now know that angels possess the grace of God while they are in their heavenly form, but if they fall, the grace is lost or scattered. So theoretically Lucifer’s grace has to be out there somewhere, and I bet he wants it back. But where do you keep the grace of the number one fallen angel? That’s potent stuff to let fall on some random cornfield in Kentucky. I bet God has it locked up really tight: in the body’s of special living people.

And I’ll speculate one of them is Dean Winchester. And here’s how (and yeh, it’s hokey, but so was Anna’s grace in a vial hanging from Uriel’s neck).

The grace of Lucifer was passed to all the disciples who carry it within their bloodlines and pass it through the generations. It is scattered around the Earth, but not too many ancestors exist who carry it. However, Dean and Sam are the two left with the greatest power, they were descended from Mary Magdalene and Jesus. That’s why God wanted Dean out of Hell because once they are dead and in Hell, Lucifer an reclaim his grace from them. Fortunately, Lucifer needs more than one person’s grace. Though he has captured many over the years, the strongest is of Jesus’ bloodline. And he has never held that grace before. Now, the only two left on Earth with this blood are Sam and Dean. That’s why Mary smelled so good to Azazel, he knew. Lucifer prefers a Christ blood as he will be strongest when he takes the grace from within.

Now who are all the other psychic kids? They are all the apostolic carriers of the grace, purposefully marked by Azazel, tainted so they might go wrong and end up in Hell where Lucifer could get the grace, tainted through a blood rite that opens their earthly bodies to possible possession by Lucifer. There are many psychic kids because it isn’t easy to make it to the finish line and some are also back up for Sammy to be Lucifer’s vessel. But not the favorites. For Sam will have the strongest of abilities and the grace of Jesus’ bloodline inside.

How will Sam beat him? He will be trapped inside with Lucifer and he will have to overcome him. Dean will fight like crazy to save his brother and maybe we’ll have some divine intervention!
Things that happen in each episode are often a foreshadowing of events to come. Good example was the season two episode Crossroads Blues”. Later of course we see Dean make his desperate deal to save Sam. So I think that Anna’s lost grace will also come into play later on. Probably not this way, but it is fun to make guesses.

Thoughts of Twilight the Movie

Being a vampire is not easy. sure, you live forever, never grow old nor ugly nor fat. Sure with all that time on your hands you can have money and all the worldly goods you could deisre.

But does it buy happiness? Contentment? Grace?

Edward Cullen gets by. In fact for over 80 years he has existed as a vampire in the world of humans, but he doesn't really consider himself fortunate, he just makes the best of the situation. He's done many things in his 100 years of existance, been vegetarian, stalked evil humans and killed them, gone to college numerous times, traveled the world....but he's never found love.

Enter Bella Swan, the new human in Forks, Washington. Edward is smitten in the most vamiric way, he'd love to eat her. He gets over his animal urge and starts a romance with the unlikely girl (who represents all of us).

Why does Edward fit this page? This is a blog about those who are damned but long to be saved. Those who long for grace and redemption, and that is very much the story of Edward Cullen.

How was the movie? Pretty true to the book, limited of budget, weak film quality made me actually think of Supernatural. The ating could have been better since so much exposition was riding on facial expression and body language, and it fell short.

Still, over all, the magic was there and it was fun. I look forward to the sequel and hope the actors have been studying!

Wow! I don't really know what to make of this!

At live journal someone posted that baby Sam's eyes flashed yellow after Azazel gave him the demon blood. I'd never noticed, but sure enough I watched AHBL I in slow motion (you know, where they are in the nursury flash back) and it HAPPENED !!!!!!!!

Yeh, I'd be crying too Sammy if some nasty demon bled in my mouth and then killed my mommy!

There's another part of this that makes me wonder now:

Sam says: "I have demon blood in me?" And Azazel chuckles at him. Is it possible that Sam's got more than demon blood via drinking it? Was he born that way? Could he be a literal son of Azazel? Sure Azazel said he wouldn't have sex with Mary, but does that mean he wouldn't possess John long enough to make a little mix in the conception of the boy?

After all, he calls them his "psychic kids". And if Azazel is indeed a fallen angel, I'm guessing he has some pretty big powers.

What I do know is that Kripke is the magnificent bastard to have put that flash of yellow in Sam's eyes way back when. So I'm guessing Dean didn't hallucinate in "Yellow Fever" when he saw Sam's eyes flash at the end. But what that all means....I just don't know.

Sam's Betrayal

Sam was betrayed by his own mother ten years beofre his birth. His whole life he has been different, but trying to be normal.

Finding out he has demon blood could be enough to desroy any man, but Sam clings to the hope that by doing good he can somehow turn his curse around.

He believes in God...in angels...he prays. When Sam finally meets Castiel he acts like a fan, and what does he get in return? Castiel will not touch him at first, then when he does he says: "the boy with the demon blood."

Such denial and rejection would hurt anyone, but Sam is particularly afraid of rejection. Can the angels understand him? Or will they send him further down the dark path? Do they care?

Has Sam's faith been broken? Will it be enough if Dean reminds him that he should still have faith.

Sam is being denied grace for something beyond his control. Is this his destiny.....what he will become?

Supernatural Book Report: Season Two

Sometimes the strongest book is the first one, but in this "series", season two stands out for many reasons. The season begins with the aftermath of the Impala being hit by a semi and all three Winchesters injured. The audience quickly learns that Dean is on the edge of dying, trying to fight off a reaper that has come to call at the hospital. Sam tries his best to reach Dean's spirit on the other side, all while angrily arguing with his father whom he thinks is doing nothing to save Dean. This episode begins a season of secrets and deals. John gives his life and the colt to the YED in exchange for Dean being allowed to live.



As the season progresses, Dean is filled with guilt over being allowed to live, loosing his father and holding onto a secret so painful it starts to eat away at him. The two brothers argue over how to grieve and what jobs they should take. They fight off vampires and learn that not everything supernatural is neccessarily evil. They are arrested and Dean is nearly murdered by a corrupt police officer, and then they learn humans can be bigger monsters sometimes.

All along the way they start learning more about the cryptic information the YED gave to them while possessing their father. He called Sam one of his psychic children and said he had plans for him. This is worrisome to both brothers, but for different reasons. Dean expresses his fears in "Simon Said" when forced by another psychic kid to tell the truth, he expresses concern that he doesn't really know what is going on and he hopes Sam doesn't turn into a killer.

Sam is wondering what exactly the plans are and why his power is always realted to another psychic kid or a demon. Croatoan doesn't provide and answer to those questions, but it does show that if Sam were to go evil Dean would kill if neccessary, but he would kill himself also. Croatoan was about a demon virus that turned people evil. Sam was immune, and the audience learns it was all a test. After this crisis the brothers have a heart to heart talk and Dean spills the secret that has been eating at him for months. Before John died, he told Dean if he couldn't save Sam he'd have to kill him.

Sam doesn't take this too well and in the next episode heads off on his own for answers. He meets up with Ava, who has the same power of psychic dreams as he does. They don't learn much about thier powers or how it relates to the demon, but they come under the attack of Gordon, a righteous hunter who considers Sam a threat. Seems that some demons have talked and they have named Sam a potential supernatural threat. Gordon kidnaps Dean to bait Sam. Sam is careful, and is able to rescue Dean. There are a few oppurtunities for Sam to kill Gordon, but he proves himself honorable and gets Gordon arrested.

The brothers are united and fight ghosts and a shapeshifter over the next few episodes. Then Sam disappears. When Dean finds him it appears Sam has turned evil and killed another hunter. Sam begs Dean to kill him, but Dean can not. Even when Dean tracks Sam to Minnesota where Sam has attacked and bound fellow hunter Jo, Dean can not kill his brother. Dean knows why Sam is acting so strange, he douses him with holy water and it burns. Sam is possessed. "Born under a bad sign" was yet another test for Dean in regards to how he would deal with his brothers turn to evil. In the end, Sam is freed, but not without the knowledge of what the darkside might do to him.

Before we reach the end of the season the writers through in two powerful episodes that do tie to the main mytharc and the beliefs of the Winchester brothers. The first was "Heart" in which Sam and Dean investigate a werewolf only to discover it is the woman Sam has a crush on. Sam finally let's down his geek guard and has sex with Madison only to discover the monster in her can never be controlled. She does not have free will, she will always be a killer. Madison begs Sam to be the one to end her life, and he tearfully does this, knowing full well it could be his own destiny.

"What is and Never Should Be" is about Dean's experience in a dream world created by a Djinn. Dean's world consists of happiness he never had. His mother is alive, he has a house, a girlfriend who is a nurse, Sam is in law school, engaged to Jessica. Dean is very happy in his dream, but he comes to realize it is not normal and he must break free. He must leave this world because what he does saves people, and he is needed.

"All Hell Breaks Loose" was the season finale. Since the boys never found the YED, it came for them. Sam mysteriously disappears and wakes to ifnd himself in some sort of ghost town in South Dakota with four other psychic kids his same age. They have been brought there for a demonic celebrity death match. Only one will walk out alive. In the lcimatic end to part one, Sam and the other remaining "kid" Jake fight. Jake is seemingly unconscious, but as Sam walks towards Dean and Bobby we see Jake sneak up behind and stab Sam in the back, killing him.

Part II begins with Dean tearfully talking to Sam's corpse, telling him how he tried to watch out for him. Dean is desparate to have his brother back. He summons a crossroads demon and makes a deal. One yearleft on earth and then he will go to Hell, but Sam gets to live.

The now awakened Sam and Dean travel with Bobby to Wyoming to find the devil's gate and hopefully to stop Jake from opeing it and unleashing demons upon the earth. They locate Jake and in an opportune moment wrathful Sammy loads Jakes' body with a clip of bullets. This begins cold, ruthless Sam which we will see again in season 3 and 4.

The YED is there, advancing on Dean and Sam. Dean has the colt now and is preparred to send his mother's killer away to nothingness. The gate is still opened and demons are flying out at all speeds. One escapee is John Winchester who is able to wrestle with YED long enough that Dean shoots the fatal bullet and gets the revenge he's wanted for a long time. John's spirit disappears in a flash of light and they manage to close the gate.

In the end, Sam knows that he died, and that Dean only has one year left. Sam has come so far from the college student who wanted normal. He's discovered he has a demon inspired power, that he was fed demon blood as a baby and that he is part of the demon's plans. He has been arrested, and he is a fugitive from justice. He has died, and been resurected by his brother's sacrifice. Now he needs answers about his own destiny, and answers over how to save Dean. there is no turning back for Sam Winchester. He puts the past to rest and moves on.

Supernatural Book Report

If I were to write a book report on Supernatural I would treat each season as its own book.

In season one, we meet Sam Winchester, a young, handsome, academically gifted college student at Stanford. On Halloween, his older brother shows up and gives him the news that their father is missing. This worries Sam, despite his long estrangment from his family and the world they inhabit. It's a secret world he has never shared with his girlfriend Jessica. For Sam Winchester and his family are all hunters. They hunt the supernatural: witches, ghosts, demons, etc.... and Sam wants nothing to do with that life, he just wants to be normal. Sam is worried about his father and agrees to accompany Dean to Jerihco, CA to look for him. There they investigate a woman in white apparition and put her to rest. They do not find Dad and on Sam's insistance they return to Stanford because Sam has an interview for law school on that Monday.

Sam says his goodbys and returns to the apartment and his normal life. As he settles down on the bed, his face is serene, he has reconciled with Dean, fought off a ghost, and returned in time to see his swetheart. Something wet hits his face...and in an instant Sam Winchester is transformed from normal guy into vengeful hunter. Jessica is dead, burned in the same senseless killing that took his mother 22 years before. Sam knows now, he can't return to normal, can't go to the interview...for now, he needs to find Jessica's killer. He needs his revenge!

The season continues with Sam and Dean fighting a variety of evil from vengeful spirits, demons on airplanes, wendigos, and even bugs. In between we learn, along with the brothers, all about these legends. We learn who the boys are and how they relate to each other.

Sam longs to return to his life at Stanford, but not until he finds his father, for in finding his father he might find what killed Jessica and his mother. By the eighth show we realize John Winchester will not be easy to find. But by then there is a new complication. Sam has psychic dreams, and sometimes they come true. He dreams of their home in Lawrence, Kansas and of the peril the current owner might experience. So the brothers travel there and learn about their past while helping the woman who now inhabits their old home.In the end, Mary Winchester's spirit appears to her sons and extinguishes the poltergeist that has attacked the home and Sam.

And Mary says, "I'm sorry." to her son Sam. We will ponder the meaning of this until season four.

Next up is "Scarecrow." Sam wants to head to California to meet his father and Dean wants to hunt. Sam leaves and during his journey meets up with Meg who encourages his independence. Eventually, Sam learnes Dean is in peril and returns to save him from a pagan god. The two relieze they need each other. This becomes increasingly apparent in the next episode, "Faith" when Dean is electrocuted and fated to die. Sam will do anything to save him, including taking him to a faith healer who miraculously repairs Dean's heart at the cost of another's life. Here, the viewerr learns that Sam will do anything to save his brother and that God has a purpose for Dean.

The rest of the season helps the viewer understand the dynamics and complexity of the relationships between the Winchester men. By the conclusion of "Salvation" and "Devil's Trap" we know how the brothers relte and we know what these hunters must do.

The end with the Impala being crashed into was the most surprising and graphic endings/cliffhangers ever. Was it all for nought? Did finding Dad really yield the YED?

What comes next? Who is the YED? What does he plan on for Sam and the other psychic children? Will he destroy the Winchesters?


These were the unresolved questions of Season 2.

Saving things....the family business

Collective thoughts over the episodes regarding Sam's potential decent into darkness. Or, honestly, I know there's a way to make this into a logically connected post. I think it was after reading that there are two episodes in which Dean punches Sam that I became interested in the connections between those episodes: Bloodlust and Metamorphosis. What was the purpose in the punch and was it received the same way?

I think it was all about Dean's frustrations with not being able to see Sam's point of view. They think differently, and Dean wants Sam to always see it his way. And when Sam doesn't, Dean secretly fears this is a part of Sam not wanting him, not needing him, potentially abandoning him. I mean, in "Bloodlust" Sam was: "No, we can't listen to Gordon, we can't do this or that." And in "Metamorphosis": Dean was the one saying. "why do you need me to help you hunt demons, you have Ruby". Either way, Dean was afraid Sam wouldn't need him.

Push push push Dean! You'll be the one sending Sammy down the dark path!

Dean tells him if it’s supernatural, they kill it, it’s their job. Sam says no, they’re job is hunting evil, and these things aren’t evil. It takes Dean much longer to come around to this way of thinking. But by "Sin City" he's starting to be more accepting of differing POV. Is this because Sam recognizes the supernatural in himself?

"Why can't there be a choice?" That's what you're thinking, but by season four Dean, you've changed your tune back to early season two's 'supernatural we hunt it....' DEAN! You're not Gordon! Stay sane!!!

Dean! You came back from the dead! You ARE a supernatural being! Stop listening to others (listening to Gordon was dumb and you learned that) and listen to your heart. You've always known what's best for Sam. You'd know if he were evil.

Search your feelings! You know this to be true!

And you know Dean, that there is plenty of good in him.

My Brain Hurts!

After viewing the latest Supernatural episode a few days ago I've been making my usual round of reading posts and opinions. And now my brain hurts! While the first 4 shows have helped answer many questions, they've created more.

Now we know Sam's got evil inside him. Okay, but what exactly does that mean? Is he the anti-Christ? Lucifer's vessel? Stronger than Lucifer? Can he overcome it?

We know he has powers: so are the powers inherently evil? WAs he born with them? What exactly did the blood feeding do? Was Gordon rigth? Why did Gordon decide he was not just a monster, but the anti-Christ? Is it better to use powers that are humane, even if they are demon given? What has Ruby taught?

Sam's honesty: Sure Sam shared a bunch with big bro', but what's he still hiding? What other nifty powers can he use? If Ruby was gone for part of the four months, what was Sammy up to besides drinking heavily.

The Bromance: Holy God, the bromance is even more stoked this season!!!! Just kiss each other...all right! These two are so frikin co-dependent it's crazy! Dean's fear of abdonment and Sam's need for approval. OMG! Will Dean's overbearing big bor' routine drive Sammy away as it did briefly in "Scarecrow"? Sam's used to making his own decisions and deciding on the hunts (notice it was Travis calling in Sam's help in "Metamorphosis" and Dean agreeing to go where Sam directed. Will we get more of "you're bossy...and short" this season?

That pain in the ass angel! Will Cass plant ideas into Dean's head or offer him "choices" that have no good options. "I can send you back to hell." kinda makes you a little more obedient. Of course that reminds me of Ruby's likely fear that Sam will send her back to hell. So we have two lap dogs for the opposition. Yeh...just great.

Eternal Sabbath

So this is Akiba-kun or Shuro from the manga Eternal Sabbath by Fuyumi Soryo. I happened upon this manga while searching online and I was instantly drawn in by both the detailed artwork and the story line.

I've included Akiba here because he fits in with the theme of the tortured soul who has little control over circumstances of his life.

Akiba was a genetic experiment, "grown" in a lab and subjected to scientific tests and upbringing. He had no family and no one he could trust, and yet, he remained a good person.

Akiba's genetic manipulation gave him some powers. He can read minds, and also alter thoughts. He is more durable and self healing than the common human and is capable of living to 200. Being able to read thoughts makes him have skewed social skills because he doesn't have to wonder what others think and go about the typical route of learning about people. Until he meets Mine, a scientist whose mind he can not read.

The nemesis in this tale is Isaac, the clone of Akiba, and one who has embraced evil. In Akiba we have one path, and in Isaac the other. This is a moral tale, a love story, and a tragedy.

It's an adult manga, not dirty, but not for kids either.

4.o3 "In the Beginning"

This was truly a show of heartbreak. Allow me to begin:

Well, Mary made a deal. Castiel says the D word (Destiny) and we find out why Dean has no grandparents.

Slowing down…Dean learns Mary is a hunter from a hunter family. John, is a civilian, “about the farthest thing from a hunter.” Mary tells Dean.

Castiel tells Dean you have to stop it. Dean doesn’t know what at first, but eventually deducts that he needs to stop Mary from making a deal. He’s too late! Castiel whisks him back to the future and tells him that he couldn’t have stopped it anyways, it was destiny that the demon would feed Sam his blood, but what Castiel doesn’t know is for what endgame…for what purpose.

We learn that Azazel was “cultivating” potential psychic kids by gaining the permission of the parent in a ten year deal. He apparently was creating many of these deals so he could find the best one. He sniffs at Mary and is very turned on by her sent. It seems all demons can smell souls, for later on he smells Dean to see if he is the psychic kid, he can tell Dean is not. Which brings to mind the demon waitress saying she could smell Sam’s soul.

I may have to concede that Sam wasn’t born with powers. The episode wasn’t clear. Azazel said he was creating the deals to later create psychic kids, so it’s hard to say if it was the blood baptism that granted powers or not. We’ll still have to wait on that.

What we do know is Mary did not have powers. But her soul had a certain appeal to it.

Now Dean knows what happened November 2, 1983. He doesn’t even know that Sam is privy to this info.

And we all know why Mary said, “I’m sorry” to Sam way back in season one. Ah, Kripke! You’ve planned it out so well.

I don’t think Sam’s name is spoken in the entire episode with the exception of Dean saying: “Sam, wherever you are, Mom’s a babe.” In the scene with Azazel, Dean doesn’t speak Sam’s name and Azazel just says, “you have a brother?” Later, in the hotel room Castiel glances at Sam’s empty bed, Dean’s eyes follow and they talk of Sam without saying his name.

And of course we now know when the Impala came into John Winchester’s life! And yes, the girl got more screen time than Sammy who was conspicuously missing from the bookends of the episode. I didn’t notice his absence during the back to the Future trip. The time in the past and my curiosity over how much would be revealed made it speed by even faster than the premiere! And I know my favorite damned character will be back, but if I think too hard on it I do feel a little empty without Sam, a little less complete.

Finally, despite his physical presence, this episode was all about Sam. It was how evil came into his life (via his mother’s desperate deal), how hunting destroyed the gentle nature of John Winchester in a way Vietnam even didn’t, pulling both boys into the hunting life their mother wanted so badly to escape; how Azazel’s actions were not to be prevented, and how prophetic John’s words to Dean were, echoed by Castiel.

“Your brother is headed down a dangerous road. So stop it. Or we will.”

Oh Castiel....so that's what you met by you have to stop it? And the show ends with TBC. Oh, thanks a lot.

The waiting is the hardest part!

Dumb Speculation

I suck at Speculation! Suck, I tell ya. But I'm gonna do it any ways....


Somehow, Mary's family made a mistake, a mistake that could destroy Sam. It's said that the actions are heartbreaking. All I can think is that Mary's family could only guarantee the safety of one child. Maybe Mary and John tried to only have one kid, so he'd be safe, but Sam came along anyway. And Mary was sorry, because only one boy could be under the angels' protection.


But why would that crap happen?


Tomorrow I get the feeling we might find out.


Until then I can only speculate that Mary's dad maybe made a deal with a demon (why?) that lasted 10 years. It's 1973 in the episode and Sam was born in 1983. We know the demon grabs Mary, but why? Can Mary see angels in their true form?


I also get the feeling that John was a normal guy caught up in Mary's crazy world, could there be more to why he isn't good enough for Mary? Could she have Sam's powers?


I still think psychic kids are born with gifts. I think the demon interferred or tried to take control with the blood baptism.


I think no matter what the story is Dean and Sam (but Dean especially) will say Fuck Destiny! He's my brother. I'm praying that love wins and saves the day as it has in some of my favorite stories: A Wrinkle in Time and Star Wars.

4.02 Are you there God?

Dean...oh, Dean. When will you believe? Castiel has his work cut out for him in influencing Dean. Of course, threatening him with Hell might help his argument! Geez, so much for Mr. Nice angel!

What an episode. A little slower than the debut, but it's sort of hard to top a resurection from the dead. This week I was a little surprised Dean did tell Bobby and Sam about Castiel. I was not surprised, but I was very very happy and relieved, that Sam still has his faith. It was good to hear Sam’s lines about being relieved the good guys were out there and not just demons. He was so happy Dean was “touched by an angel”. Hopefully this shows he has not turned to the darkside. I think when he said he was not afraid of angels he was stating why should he fear them, he isn’t a demon or a bad guy. I have a hard time believing that the demon blood he received as a baby made him part demon. But we just might find out the truth this season.

Jim Beaver’s delivery of Bobby was the best I’d ever seen. The pained look he gives when Dean says why does God care about me said so much. And how rattled he was to see the mauled hunter, and later how the girls disturbed him, shows he has a lot of depth and compassion. Then there was the panic room! I was shouting at the TV…”Bobby is so awesome.” And seconds later Dean delivered his “Bobby you’re awesome!” line. LOL.

The words from Henrickson and Meg were filled with a lot of meaning. I took it that what they said was really the inner thoughts of Dean, Bobby, and Sam. Like they were yelling at themselves for failing those people.

Castiel’s appearance was strong and we learn he’s “no Michael Landon”. Dean was horribly disrespectful to a being who pulled him from hell, but then Dean’s never been too good at saying thank you.

And it’s really the end of the world? Wow, I have no idea how that will be written. But I have full faith, that whatever happens, the writers will deliver an incredible show.

This is a pretty cool sounding song! I thought the lyrics were written just for Dean! Sometimes a group really fits the fandom mood. I know that Muse is all about Edward and Bella! Maybe My Chemical Romance has lyrics that fit the Winchesters?

My favorite here was the father teaching the son, and then dying. The son saying he will carry on and fight: be the “saviour of the broken and the damned.”

And “this world will never take my heart.” What is it with Dean and his heart?

Fangasm Reaction to Season 4 Episode 1

Holy shit OMFG! Sorry for the blasphemy, but that’s my reaction to the season opener of Supernatural. I lay on my couch holding my blanket for dear life as the first 15 minutes played out commercial free. WOW! This episode had so many little teasers all over the place setting the entire season up for one big ride.

The summary and the reactions:

OK, so we knew Dean would be back. But his agonizing digging yourself free from the grave (Sam must of buried him shallow) and his weak parched voice…[oh Dean, we’ll save you]. Very heartbreaking. His body as he walked down that road and later when he pulled his shirt up to inspect the damages….HOT! We already played the incredible Bobby reunion [like at least 10 times on youtube, you know it!]. Then they track down Sam….the alias? Wedge Antilles! LOL. Then Dean says, “you just have to know him [Sam].” Yep SW geek.

Sam’s found in a motel room after having cheap sex with a woman he doesn’t know. His body looks like a brick wall coming at Dean when he first saw Dean and was poised to attack. His move on Dean was so fierce it’s a wonder Bobby was able to stop him. Apparently Jared (and Jensen…see above) have spent more time at the gym over the last few months. Then they hugged and Sam didn’t cry! But Bobby was all misty eyed for the two of them. Yeh, you read that riht! Mr. Emo himself did not cry.

They go to a psychic…Poor Pamela Barnes…silly girl, you can’t “see” the true face of “God” and she lost her eyes in the process. This and the pure loud noise Dean hears let’s us know that Castiel is packing some power.

Next, the boys go for pie. Hasn’t Dean learned by now that pie is the root of all evil? There’s demons at that diner! But they’re small fry, little threat, and the one keeps looking at Sam and he at her like they’re talking telepathically. Just suspicious looking that’s all I’m saying. Dean gets all up in her face and she backs down, he thinks he spooked her with his bravado, and later he all but confesses to Sam that he was scared it wouldn’t work, and I was suspecting he’d be tossed into a wall. But no…they leave peacefully. So I gotta wonder, was she actually afraid of Sam? Has he grown a rep as a demon dispatcher!?! Course, Dean wouldn’t know this cause Sam says he’s not using the powers.

The discussion scenes in the car are held as both men are in shadows. I think they’re both keeping secrets, but I think Dean isn’t aware of his entirely yet. It was good not to see him break apart. He was confused, but he was Dean. Sam was aloof, cold, definitely not the emo boy we know and love and I don’t think there was one instance of him giving the puppy eyes.

Later the brothers part after Sam sneaks out of the hotel room. They aren’t back together again for the rest of the episode. Bobby returns and hooks up with Dean. They head somewhere to summon the “whatever” who sprang him from hell. Meanwhile, Sam goes back to the diner, presumably to kill the demons with the demon knife, but WAIT! The knife was left at the hotel room…..something’s up.

And that’s when we get what we’ve been waiting for:

Sam kills demons with his bare hands by doing some funky psychic mojo thing. Just raises his hand and the demon smoke rises out of the body and is gone. Ruby is alive and well in a new body and apparently Sam’s tutor. And he isn’t just exorcising anymore…he sends the demons all the way back to hell, or perhaps he vapes them completely, not sure, but often his work kills the human host. And he’s been doing this for months.

Sam lied! “Haven’t seen Ruby, don’t know what happened to her.” Yep…not surprised there. He looked uncomfortable the whole time he was telling about his time alone to Dean. And Ruby wonders how Dean will feel when he finds out. And although Sam doesn’t seem to trust Ruby, he’s much more buddy-buddy with her now that Dean isn’t there to stop him. Clearly Dean has been his grounding force and his buffer.

So finally we meet Castiel. Wow……he says he’s an angel. And I go back to “Houses of the Holy.” “Mom always said there were angels watching over me.” What did Mary Winchester know? Or, what did she do that set these events in motion? [Fuel for a speculation post by me…later]

Castiel tells Dean he thought Dean would have been one of the special ones who could actually see his true form, but he was not. Castiel claims he is an angel of the Lord. “God sent me. We have work to do.” And that’s where our episode ends.

There is symbolism in Dean and Sam not being in the same scenes towards the end of the episode. One is talking with a demon, the other with an angel. But what are the demons trying to accomplish via Sam? Why does Ruby want Sam so darn powerful? And geez, why will she kill other demons? Then Castiel? He’s more like the angels in “Dogma” than any angel of puffy cloud kindness. He’s scary! But he’s no demon. Dean full on stabbed him with the demon knife 9in the heart no less).

So when did Dean become the target for a plan of destiny? Sam’s been marked since 6 months or younger (cause we don’t know the back story there), but when did Dean become the chosen one too?

So many questions! Absolutely on target episode for kicking off the season!!!!!!!!!
