Some love for Star Wars and the idea of what could have been

For some reason I have been thinking of Star Wars again. Specifically I was thinking about the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. I enjoyed watching the first 27 minutes of Revenge of the Sith and watching Obi-Wan and Anakin banter about and just be cool. Then I turned it off. I wasn't in the mood for the sadness. Due to the magic of Google I was busy looking up pictures of Anakin and Padme together with their children. If only....right? So here are some that were culled from a search. Many are from tumblr and are lovely bits of art.

Somehow these make me want to write stories!  Maybe I'll at least write them in my head.

Excited About Jeremy Carver

In the life parallels art category is the change in show runners just as I have a change in co-teachers: swapping out disorganized for orderly. Just as the show is on a new night, I am in a new room! Love those parallels....season 8 here we come. Jeremy Carver knows how to write a good story and from "Being Human" I know he knows how to craft a season. He has also stated that he has a three year plan. That's what you need to do, long term plan. Here's a picture from episode three which Jensen Ackles directed:

Sam is looking fine with his longer hair. Sam and Dean have been apart again and this time when they reunite they are said to be more mature. Sam has moved on and Dean has come back from purgatory stronger.

I soooooo adore Cal Leandros and his brother Niko! This will be the 7th book in this series about two brothers who fight the supernatural. Yes, one is half-monster, but his brother loves him anyways, and yes, they have friends who support them. Imagine that!!!!

This series always sends out the new book just before my birthday. YAY! I will cry when it is over!!!!!! Love my bad ass Cal!

Supernatural is breaking my heart

I just can’t bring myself to accept what happened to my show.

I’ve been watching Chuck. Over the summer I started with season one and kept on going and now am watching it live. I’ve really enjoyed that show for what it is and not for anything too lofty. Chuck is a comedy speckled with drama. It’s a problem with a solution in a 40 minutes slot, however, it does carry storylines onward from week to week so there is the sense of a complete tale being told. Sure, I think Chuck peeked in coolness in season 3, but season 4 was enjoyable as five has been, even if Chuck no longer has the intersect. I don’t feel that Chuck and the team have a pointless existence. They know what they want from life and they have family and friends to support their decisions. Yes, Chuck is more a show about family than Supernatural is. The most recent episode: “Chuck versus the baby” ended on a happy note with Sarah reuniting with her mother and the whole “family” sitting down to dinner.

Can’t say that’s going to happen on Supernatural. Sam and Dean are family to each other, but have no one else; so how can this be a show about family? It’s a show about co-dependent brothers. Hell, that wouldn’t be an issue if it wasn’t for this. I feel that the writers don’t respect their characters. Sera Gamble has laughed in interviews and said: “we’re going to take everything away from them.”

Ok, if there was a reason for this, or if this loss was a catalyst to storytelling, I’d say, “bring it.” But it’s not. It’s her idea of fun. It’s not fun, it’s crappy story telling. Given this is a show with five seasons of a story so solid it could have been a book series, it’s crap.

I’ve enjoyed Season seven more than six, but I don’t trust that the writers have any plan in mind. I think they are making it up as they go along. I miss when the brothers were special and had a destiny. I miss the angels, the apocalypse, the Impala. I miss Dean being a wise-ass and Sam being prissy one minute and cold and scary the next.

With Chuck, the characters have changed in that they have matured, but they never lost who they are. Chuck is still a nerd who loves video games, Sarah is still a badass who is afraid to let go. John Casey is still funny and scary, but loves his daughter very much. Crazy Morgan went from annoying twit to loyal and trustworthy friend.

Sam went from vengeful mourner to frightening badass to whimpering penitent to soulless to bland…bland…bland………

Dean went from lascivious hero to frightening badass to whimpering co-dependent to PTSD sufferer to heaven’s rebel to family man…to suicidal alcoholic……..

I wish I felt better now after this rant, but I don’t. I expect nothing from this show. I might like an episode, but it’s as dull as anything else on TV.

One last thing. I've cried numerous times while watching Chuck, but never when watching Supernatural. Why is that?

Season Six Ended in Dissappointment

Soulless Bastard !!!! Lucifer wanna be!!! I loved you!!!!

Maybe like the fact that Kyp Durron hasn't had more than a line or two in the most recent set of books, my hero Sam Winchester hasn't had a spine or an ounce of darkness since his resouling. This sadddens me. In supernatural fiction, typically one of the "good guys" has powers, abilities, secrets, connections to the supernatural, etc.... Sam was that character. Season Six gave us Sam as a soulless thing, and that provided mystery and tension, but then he got his soul back and Sam lost any amount of chutzpah he ever had on his wimpiest day. He was as much fun to watch as Kyp the wise (and calm) Jedi master on a diplomatic mission (this happened in the recent book).





As if that was bad enough, the only conflict turns out to be straight forward. Cas turns to the darkside (yawn)! Seriously!!!!!! That's it? So Cas swallows all the purgatory souls and is this new unstoppable creature. He was their friend! That's like character assassination to the 1,000,000 th degree!!!!!





Bastards!





Where is Death in all of this? Shouldn't he want an apocalypse? It's kinda his job. He wants balance, right? Then he needs to show up in season seven. I am happy there will be more, but I am worried that Sam will no longer have powers or connections to Hell. This would bore me. However, if he has Hell memories, perhaps we can hope that he will have that internal conflict and struggle.

Dean must die

How does it all end? Here in I dare to speculate once again. Frankly, it's like this:

Dean must die.

Dean has escaped a natural death twice and countless unnatural ones. But let's talk about the natural deaths. In "Faith" Dean's electrocution was severe enough to damage his heart. The doctor told him he had about one month left to live. The injury was electrocution, an accident, no act of god, angels or demons. In "In my time of dying" Dean is near death due to a head injury from a car accident. In both cases he cheats death.

In the next episode fate is messed with by the angel Baltazar and Fate comes to call. Will she be angry at Dean who has been given two free passes in his life plus all the angelic interference on his multiple deaths and avoidances of fate? One does wonder.

And what lies behind Sam's wall?

The New Big Bad

Supernatural was postponed this week by the CW! That was the anguished cry of 5 million fans heard round the world. We are slowly gtting over it as we know we will get our beloved show on February 4th, but still, the pain!

All that aside, we have been tempted by a story that there will be a new "big bad" introduced in the upcoming episode. I've been thinking hard about what type of creature we have yet to see. Mom actually went there and said:" What about the queen of heaven?" Woah, deep!

Then I was thinking about which entity would be upset that DEan and Sam constantly upset the natural order of things. This, coupled with a spoiler for a character named Atropos, led me to speculate that the Fates themselves may ge t involved in a world where the natural order is denied. The following was my thoughts:

I think I figured it all out.

There is going to be a new big bad. What entity have we not yet seen? Will it be female or male? What mythology will it derive from?

I think the Supernatural writing team has put their Bible back on the shelf and taken down a new tome to study. I’m going to speculate that they are going to use western mythology next and bring us a big bad that’s not so much evil, as it is grandiose.

I think it’s going to be the 3 Fates. Why? There was a character name spoiler for 6.16 “Your Time is Gonna Come.” The character was Atropos. That’s the Fate that cuts the thread of life. She is inevitable, she can not be escaped.

It is said she is even more powerful than God. So it wouldn’t be a stretch to say she is more powerful than Death. Nor would we be stretching if we said she was the entity making the list of who must be reaped. It would follow that she would be invested in the natural order of things and that the Winchesters, who have repeatedly broken the natural order, would be on her radar. I’m not completely sure what she would want, besides things to be as they are destined to be!

I also would speculate that no matter who the big bad turns out to be, it’s the 5th entity that can not be killed by the Colt (God, Death, Angels, Reapers, being the first four). Perhaps that’s why Sam and Dean travel back in time to meet Samuel Colt and learn the secrets of the gun.

I think Death thinks the same thing. He’s missing that other half.

Like Dean missed Sammy.

Except Sam’s body was resurrected by Lucifer, who had the juice to spit the body up top, but not the soul.

And Sam stands under a light, that flickers, because behind him is an angel or a demon. Castiel has done regrettable things.

Death’s little lackey Crowley proved foolish and unreliable as he thought he would. Crowley couldn’t get what Death really needed, an alpha monster powerhouse to raise all the dead. So Death wasn’t heart broken at that loss.

Sam can do the same work, if he can access what lies behind the wall. And Death knows it won’t be long before his little protégé and intrepid detective Dean finds out that secret. The secret that Sam is hiding inside.

And then Sam will offer to open the dam and let out the secret that will find purgatory and Mommy and inadvertently release Lucifer and Michael and continue the apocalypse which is suppose to happen but can’t because the Winchesters are always upsetting the natural order of the universe.

And then maybe those squirrelly archangels will zip off to the heavens eventually and Death will go on doing what he does until the end of time.


And how will it end for the brothers Win? Well, here’s to some crazy ideas:

• After having upset the natural order from the get-go, Death transports both Sam and Dean to that fateful day in 1973 when Mary made the deal with Azazel. Mary says “No” and the boys flicker out as we fade to black

• After having upset the natural order from the get-go, Death transports Dean to Cold Oak where he burns his brother’s remains on the funeral pyre. Dean returns to Lisa and lives happily ever after.

• After having upset the natural order from the get-go, Death transports Sam to Nebraska where he spends three weeks amusing his dying brother Dean. After Dean’s passing, Sam returns to Stanford and the apocalypse is derailed.

• After having upset the natural order from the get-go, Death transports Dean and Sam to that fateful day when they realized Azazel was possessing John. Sam kills Yellow eyes and gets Dean safely to a hospital. The two continue their lives as hunters, serving their father’s memory.

And in the cracktastic version:

• To complete the balance, Dean must pay his debt to the fairy realm and travels there to service Oberon, meanwhile, Sam, in lonely despair, hunts down Lucky, gets turned into a dog, and wanders the back roads of America…furry.

A little speculation...

We are a few days less than 4 weeks from the return of season six of Supernatural. Or in golf terms, the back nine. We've had all our preliminary lessons on the monster breeding and world domination theory, we've seen that angels fall into 3 camps, and we've also seen that there is a high value on the human soul. Death, himself appeared and encouraged Dean to continue his "intrepid" detective work in finding the meaning behind these souls. And Death, a being clearly as powerful as God willingly retrieved Sam's soul from the Cage.

Along the journey we found that Crowley was behind finding alpha monsters and supposedly getting Sam's body out of Hell, but then we learned he was all talk and no abilities and Castiel fried him up extra crispy. So I guess he's out of the game. Alpha monsters not only have taken a liking to Dean, they seem to have a connection to him also. Once you are in their camp, I guess it builds a connection to you. Perhaps this will come into play as Dean's story of discovering not only the deal with souls, but why the Alphas are on the rise. And I can't help but wonder if the answer to the location of purgatory is related to the idea that the fairy realm is an ultraterrestrial location overlapping our own.

Maybe Dean will need to explore his connections to the monsters.

I could say the same for Sam. After spending considerable time in the cage likely attacked by two angry archangels on a daily basis, all parties involved say he is likely very damaged. I believe Death said his soul was "filleted". So Death puts up a protective barrier in Sam's mind so he will be shielded from the worst of his memories of his torture. But what if the answers that Sam and Dean need are found behind that wall? Sam is a constant liar, will he hold back on what he knows or go the self-sacrifice route? Will he want to go there to retrieve it and Dean will protest, and there we have our season cliff hanger.

How Sammy got his groove, I mean, his soul back

I guess that the Supernatural powers that be thought having Sam resouled just before hiatus was a suitable cliffhanger. But really, the resouling was not a shock or surprise. Of course he would get it back.

The question is, how will his experience in the Cage start to leak out? Will he be a bit of a conduit for Lucifer? And what did Michael and Lucifer think when Death simply entered their cage and took Sam out? Or was Sam stashed elsewhere?

And what does Death want? Is he God's brother? Is he looking for God?

The Real Long Con

Dean Winchester's soul is priceless. His soul is the Hope diamond of souls, the largest pearl, the clearest ruby, it is more precious than gold. Dean Winchester's soul is the soul that broke the first seal that locked Lucifer in his cage for millenia. It is the soul that has shared space with the body of the one true vessel of Michael. Dean, the servant of Heaven, the righteous man who opened the gates of Hell.

Dean Winchester's soul would be the most desired soul, the most powerful soul in the universe.

It would be coveted by both Heaven and Hell.

Dean would risk his soul to search high and low for the lost soul of his brother. He would separate from his body to search the spirit world for Sam's soul. In that state, he could be captured.

I can't predict what angels or demons want with souls, but whatever it is, you can bet Dean's is the primo soul to steal. Even the monsters want him to join their growing families.

So what of Sam? His soul is worth a lot too and whomever really holds it (I have a hard time believing it is a demon) must be gettting something from this. All these monsters recognize Sam is soulless, but Cas can not? Why? Are the angels in on a plan to use the Winchesters? Cas did say he was doing "regrettable things".

I do believe the body that looks like Sam is really a golem. I think that when Sam fell into the cage his body died and his soul was spit out either to purgatory or Heaven. I think only angels can put a soul into a body. I think they have Sam's soul hostage to be leverage to Dean.

Dean has always had his strength in this soul, and Sam in his body, but this Sam, who is ruthless, is not using magic mojo, that's fishy. Thus, the golem theory.

Dean will be likely visiting the spirit would soon. Hope he isn't kidnapped.

In which I wonder as I wander

Sam Winchester has been my favorite since I heard he had a dark destiny he didn't want to deal with....In 6.05 "Live Free or TwiHard" Sam did something so evil and selfish I actually hated him. He let Dean get turned into a vampire.

In 6.06 "You Can't Handle the Truth" we learn that Sam is missing a part of himself, he's not human, and that made me feel compassion for him. Sam sacrificed his body and soul to get Lucifer back into his cage. Sam is a hero and he deserves either a reward of eternal peace in Heaven or at least complete oblivion. It's now painful to see that he behaves on selfish instinct rather than human compassion. Now we viewers know the seasonal arc for the show.

Jensen does evil so well!

This Friday Dean gets turned into a vampire! Oh noes! Will it be like "Lost Boys" where if you kill the Alpha vamp the half turned go back to normal?

If that face doesn't fit the criteria for this blog, well then I just don't know!!!!!

The Intrigue

Sam Winchester does not pay for sex.....so who is this mysterious man?

The look in his eyes is at once lustful and vacant. And thus I will speculate heavily, twist myself into circles and come out of this with no answers....none at all.

Sam has always been the driving force and the mystery of the show Supernatural, but this season, it's even worse!!!!!

Who the Hell is Sam and what happened to him???????

Multiple Theories:

1. He's Lucifer, no...he's Michael

2. He has no soul

3. Parts of him are in the Cage

4. Parts of his soul are elsewhere

5. He has a marker on his soul

6. He's an Alpha monster

7. He came back wrong

8. He didn't suffer in Hell

9. He never went to Hell

10. The Campbells found him feral

11. His humanity was burned out

12. Sam is the King of Hell

13. Sam is out on loan

14. Sam has a mission to complete and then he will return to Hell, his true home. He has nothing to loose so he does not care.

15. We finally learn that Azazel fed Sam Lucifer's Grace via the blood

16. Sam secretly sups demon blood

What seems true thus far, is that God did not raise Sam. Angels can barter for souls like cross roads demons, and souls are worth a lot.

After Two Episodes

Show feels really different in tone! And this is upsetting and rocks our world, but I say it's a good thing to mix it up.

Still pondering if Sam is a bit like the angels, still curious if he spent time in Heaven. It seems someone wants to gather "Alpha" monsters. What if Sam is one of the monsters, a project, an experiment. He is an Alpha, the first human/angel/demon hybrid....I'd just love it if I were right!

I can't wait for FRIDAY!

Over a month ago I said that Sam was going to be more like an angel. So far, this clip shows one very emotionless man. He still looks like he is vesseling. I don't think that Sam is, but Jimmy said, vesseling an angel is like being chained to a comet. Sam is damaged emotionally. I can't wait to see how this affects his relationships and his hunting.

Also wondering how this scene plays out. Dean rises from that couch, why was he sitting? Had he been unconscious and then awoke and got up to see Sam? He doesn't seem entirely surprised, more shocked and suspiscious of Sam.

What exactly will be Sam's motivation?

Sam Winchester has always tended to be driven. As a teen, he channeled this energy and ability to focus into healthy paths such as a full ride to college. Once the "normal" world crumbled, Sam resorted to a more negative drive: namely, revenge. Over the seasons I've noted his motivations:

Season One: Revenge, finding Dad represented a "normal", Sam reasoned that to find Dad = finding what killed Jessica, and thus getting his revenge for his ruined life.

Season Two: Early on, Sam was grieving the loss of his father and worrying about Dean's mental health. As the season progressed, Sam's focus turned to saving as many would be monsters as possible, thereby saving himself from his demonic destiny.

Season Three was all about saving Dean from his deal, and at any cost

Season Four brought a return to revenge.. This time the drive to kill Lillith was really an excuse to drown in the power his blood gave him. There was still the occasional desire to save the monster as an analogy to saving himself, but by the end of the season, Sam's motivation may have been declared as "stop the apocalypse", but really it was show who is boss.

Season Five Sam has hit bottom and is out searching for redemption. He is still motivated to stop the apocalypse, but this time by using approved methods. In the end Sam's ability to vessel Lucifer allows him to release his ego and complete the ultimate sacrifice.

Yes, in the end, it was still, all about Sam!

Season Six! So what's left? Sam no longer has to prove he is not evil, he has demon blood and he has made a fair amount of peace with this. He has shown time and time again that he saves people and puts others' safety first. He has shown drive and dedication to hunting. He has shown he can beat his addiction. He has sacrificed selflessly by vesseling Lucifer.

I think this is where Sam will be like Season one Dean. Dean's mission: kill as many evil sons-a-bitches as possible. I think that will be Sam's purpose now, and I especially see this happening with his joining of the Campbell family.

Will Sam be radically different? No, maybe an exaggeration of his colder traits, but he's always tended towards pragmatism.

He Doesn't Know

I keep hearing this in my head in regards to Sam. I speculate that he does not know where he has been or how he returned. I also speculate that Sam eventually got to Heaven before being sent back to Earth because his work on Earth was not yet complete. Will it be like Buffy season 6? Will he be confused?

According to spoilers, Sam is more pragmatic and cold this season. To me, that means he is more angelic. Perhaps being trapped with two angels influenced him.

Will he have powers? Hmmmm! I say he has them in him, but will he use them, I don't know. If he's up against monsters that are not demonic, his powers seem to not work. And from a witing point of view he can't over use them or that will hurt the story.

Since the two who wanted Sam and Dean as meatsuits are locked in a box somewhere, that means Sam and Dean are free again and no longer angelic pawns! That also means they are more vulnerable and it is possible for them to be killed and stay that way. I will be glad to see them have some autonomy and not be used.

What do I foresee:

Conflicted Dean with his love of Ben and Lisa
Early S6 Sam cold and emotionless
Same with Castiel
The monster world threatening the safety of Earth
The Campbell family history, how some were in deep cover and not found by Azazel
More teamwork fighting
More brotherly autonomy
Later reveals that Sam came back not quite the same
Dean's realization that once in the Family, you die in the Family
Heaven and Hell's power structure is disrupted, who will fix it?
Gabriel returns (he has too, Richard Speight is too awesome as the wild angel)
Raphael out to get Castiel and more (there is another angel, that we know as facts...he's rogue)

I foresee 7 total seasons. They could end it with Dean in Heaven and Sam in Hell to keep the balance! Just joking on that. No, I think they will just keep on fighting until the end.
